Saint Laurent Opens Largest Storefront To-Date in Paris
The brand’s Champs-Élysées outpost sees Anthony Vacarello debut a new raw-meets-refined design concept.
Saint Laurent has cut the ribbon on its largest flagship store yet.
The all-new retail outpost takes over a historic building on the revered avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris. Inside the boutique, the House’s creative director, Anthony Vaccarello, debuts a fresh design concept, which looks to fuse the building’s original architectural elements with the artistic genes of the legacy fashion brand.
“I wanted to realize one of Yves Saint Laurent’s wishes when he arrived in Paris and said he wanted his name to be written in fiery letters on the Champs-Élysées,” said Vaccarello in a statement.
The building boasts a restored Haussmannian facade, where Yves Saint Laurent’s dream becomes a reality. On the inside, there’s a play between raw and refined finishes over four floors, with massive marbles shelves affixed to cement walls, and luminous light panels reflecting off of the space’s pared-back floors. One floor comprises a colossal VIP suite featuring a circular mirror, while the others feature various sectors of the brand’s ready-to-wear offerings — accessible through a dark-wooden staircase.
Notably, the store’s double-height foyer houses a neon light scultpure from artist Cerith Wyn Evans, comssioned by Saint Laurent, and there’s also a calming private garden that’s accessible only by clients. Donald Judd’s signature furniture designs decorate the space, offering a high-end finish to the retail concept.
