Michelle Yeoh stars as a mother on a mission to protect her son in the trailer for the upcoming black comedy, The Brothers Sun.
Bruce Sun (Sam Song Li) may think he’s an average boy living in Los Angeles, California, but when his older brother Charles (Justin Chien) comes to visit, he quickly learns that his family has been keeping a dark secret from him.
In Taipei, Taiwan, the Sun family are the overlords of a dangerous gang at war with another Taiwanese gang in the capital. When a rival crime boss is assassinated, Bruce discovers the hidden past of his late criminal father and his mother, Eileen “Mama” Sun, must do everything in her power to keep him from succumbing to the same fate.
Brad Falchuk, who co-helmed Glee and American Horror Story, and Byron Wu have created the film for Netflix. Alongside the main cast, The Brothers Sun features Highdee Kuan, Joon Lee, Jon Xue Zhang, Madison Hu, Jenny Yang, Rodney To, Alice Hewkin and Maite Garcia.
“It’s time to step up,” Charles tells his younger brother, who is resisting being pulled into his family’s life of crime.
“I don’t want to be a gangster!,” he replies. “What if I want to do what I want?”
