For NADA Miami 2023, Olympia is presenting the latest creations from rising contemporary artist Heather Benjamin. Benjamin’s art delves into surreal self-representation, featuring avatars ranging from female warriors to cowgirls, fairies, and sphinxes, all navigating a cosmic desert adorned with psychedelic plants and illuminated by electric storms in its perpetual night.

Her figures serve as conduits for personal narratives, exploring the psychological landscapes of womanhood amid emotional contrasts, touching on themes like sexuality, power, self-image, and the complexities faced by women and girls. This is all vividly portrayed through an overload of aesthetics, showcasing Benjamin’s exploration of her own mythologies with recurring symbols like flaming roses, mirrors, heart planets, and nail-polished claws, all interwoven with poetry.

In her latest collection, Benjamin intensifies her storytelling, embracing a more maximalist style. The works merge frenetic compositions with otherworldly palettes, crafting intricate universes where conflicting realities coexist harmoniously. Head over to Olympia’s online viewing room for a closer look.
