The North Face Purple Label Delivers Upcycled Outerwear Collection
The zero-waste project utilizes and reconstructs excess fabric generated during the production process.
In an effort to optimize resources, The North Face Purple Label has unveiled an all-new capsule collection of upcycled outerwear pieces. Looking to achieve zero waste, the sustainably-minded line takes left-over fabrics from previous production processes (utilized by both Purple Label and nanamica) and reconstructs them into the imprint’s classic cold-weather styles.
The collection includes a number of classic puffer coats, fleece jackets, utilitarian pants and padded scarves — all of which employ unique textile combinations that deviate from the brand’s typical protocol. Among the standouts, a colorful zip-up fleece features a patchwork-like finish with a number of contrasting sections in creme, black, purple, red and navy tones, while trousers include a buckle-clad belt with external pouches on the thigh.
“Rather than adopting a uniform approach of using recycled fabrics or environmentally conscious materials, this project aims to achieve zero fashion waste by producing products that eliminate material waste and create added value,” the brand wrote in a statement.
The North Face Purple Label’s latest upcycled capsule collection will become available to shop online and at nanamica’s Mountain, Kobe and Fukuoka stores on Wednesday, November 22. Take a closer look at the range in the gallery above.
