Oris’ Propilot X Calibre 400 Laser Features a Tantalizing Dial
Crafted using a lasering technology that has never been used in watchmaking before.
On the occasion of Dubai Watch Week, Oris has prepared a mesmerizing iteration of the ProPilot X Calibre 400.
Starring a striking and iridescent dial, this is the first time cutting-edge lasering technology has been implemented in watchmaking. This technique involved not one drop of color pigment, while perfectly imbuing a rainbow-like effect that’s reminiscent of beetles.
Commenting on the innovative dial, Richard ‘Ipy’ Siegrist, Product Development Engineer at Oris, says “Everything is achieved via a laser treatment that changes the watch’s titanium dial in such a way that the light waves that get reflected back to your eyes only contain a certain spectrum of the visible light, and therefore give you an impression of color.”
The new reference is attired in a 39mm multi-piece titanium watch case, and fitted with dome-shaped sapphire crystals on both the front and caseback. Viewable through the transparent caseback is the Oris Calibre 400 which keeps the watch running for up to 120 hours continuously. In addition, the movement is highly anti-magnetic and is equipped with a fine timing device as well as a stop-second function on top of all the quintessential timekeeping features.
