Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman have returned with their follow-up to Band of Brothers and The Pacific. Entitled Masters of the Air – an adaptation of Donald L. Miller’s 2007 nonfiction book Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the War Against Nazi Germany – the production powerhouse has enlisted Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan to star as Major Gale Cleven and Lt. Curtis Biddick, respectively, in the action-packed nine-episode drama series.

Per the official logline, Masters of the Air “follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group (the “Bloody Hundredth”)”, honing in on their “perilous bombing raids over Nazi Germany, [grappling] with the frigid conditions, lack of oxygen and sheer terror of combat conducted at 25,000 feet in the air, and “portraying the psychological and emotional price paid by these young men as they helped destroy the horror of Hitler’s Third Reich.”

“Let’s rack ‘em up, and knock ‘em down,” Butler calls out to his men at the start of the trailer. “Those daylight missions, those are suicide,” he tells Keoghan later on. “We [have to] lead our boys through it.” Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Rafferty Law, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook, Ncuti Gatwa, Josh Bolt and Kai Alexander also star in the series.

Masters of the Air will premiere globally with the series’ first two episodes on Friday, January 26, 2024 exclusively on Apple TV+. A new episode will land every Friday through the series finale on March 15, 2024. Stream the trailer above.
