Dua Lipa Kickstarts Her Next Era With New Single "Houdini"
Beginning of a new chapter from her 2020 smash ‘Future Nostalgia.’
Global superstar Dua Lipa has returned for a new chapter since her 2020 smash album Future Nostalgia. With a new track titled “Houdini,” alongside the music video for the song, it kickstarts the artist’s new narrative.
On her recent release, Dua explains that “Houdini” “embodies that 4am feeling when the night is coming to a close and you’re a bit sweaty, but you just don’t want the party to end.” In the official music video which was directed by Manu Cossu with cinematographer André Chemetof, it follows Dua post-rehearsal ina a dance hall as she revises her choreography. The lights in the room reflect on the room’s mirrors creating an optical illusion that sees the energy continue to grow.
“Houdini” is playful and Dua said, “This track represents the most light and freeing parts of my singledom. ‘Houdini’ is very tongue in cheek, exploring the idea of whether someone is really worth my while or if I’ll ghost them in the end. You never know where something may take you, that’s the beauty of being open to whatever life throws your way. I’m looking forward to sharing that feeling of defiant bliss with my fans.”
