Diptyque is preparing to cut the ribbon on its new-and-improved New York City flagship, bringing its aromatic candles and beloved fragrances back to the heart of Madison Avenue. Channeling the mystique of the label’s first boutique at 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris, the soon-to-be-open outpost centers the architectural codes of New York with its distinctly French flair.

The boutique’s layout takes cues from New York’s Grand Central and Old City Hall stations, with a bevy of arches, stained-glass windows, concrete finishes and aged wooden fixtures. Upon entering the brick building, visitors pass a “Diptyque à New York” mosaic and enter a two-floor space, featuring an open floor plan with a ground level and a mezzanine.

Eleven arches house custom-made stained-glass windows, which were inspired by the label’s archives and developed in partnership with Studio Vitrail and Bryce Bianconi. Basking in their multi-toned light, a sculptural chandelier of glass globes dangles above a Kelly Wearstler table, where the brand’s fragrance collection resides. Meanwhile, a double-height bookcase filled with accessories and scented objects towers over another table displaying Diptyque’s candle collection.

The brand’s home and decoration collections live in a wood-paneled salon with a colossal dining table and a cozy fireplace, while the Art du Soin collection lodges in a maple-shaded bath salon. There, a massive mural, made from 684 silk-paper wrapped candles, marks the entrance to a private salon.

“We are proud to announce the grand reopening of our Madison Avenue flagship. With this transformation, we bring Diptyque’s brand journey to life, and confirm our commitment to providing exceptional client experiences,” said Fabienne Mauny, Diptyque Paris’ CEO. “We’ve enhanced the beauty of this emblematic address with stunning architectural and artistic details, inspired by the iconic landmarks of New York City. As our largest store in the United States, it stands as a testament to our dedication to taking the brand to new heights.”

Diptyque’s flagship opens on December 1, and it’s located at 971 Madison Avenue. Take a look inside via the gallery above.
