RM Sotheby’s is set to host an exceptional auction, featuring the 2015 McLaren P1 and the 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder — iconic vehicles that make up two-thirds of The Holy Trinity of Hypercars, with the only vehicle missing the LaFerrari.

These automotive marvels, embodying the pinnacle of design prowess and hybrid performance, are expected to draw significant attention from car enthusiasts and collectors worldwide, with a combined estimate set at $4.7 million USD.

The McLaren P1, limited to just 375 units, is a testament to McLaren‘s legacy, carrying the torch from the iconic F1, celebrated as one of the greatest modern automobiles. This particular P1, nicknamed “The Professor,” boasts an exclusive Professor 2 Blue color, meticulously customized to the original owner’s precise standards. The car’s uniqueness extends to its interior, with seats resembling those in a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona and a passenger side sun visor etched with “You are beautiful,” adding a personal touch.

Under the hood, the P1’s 3.8L twin-turbo V-8 engine, supplemented by an electric motor, delivers a staggering 893 hp, making it capable of a top speed of 217 mph, with a 0-60 mph time of 2.7 seconds. The car’s aerodynamics, featuring adjustable front and rear spoilers, ensure maximum road grip, making it a marvel of engineering and design.

As for the Porsche 918 Spyder, it was produced in an exclusive run of 918 units and is a stunning representation of Porsche‘s foray into hybrid technology, blending impressive speed with daily drivability. Like the P1, this 918, example 488, is dressed in a rare factory paint-to-sample color, namely Mexico Blue. At the heart of the 918 Spyder is a 90-degree V-8 engine complemented by two electric motors, generating an impressive 887 hp, making it capable of a top speed of 211 mph and a 0-60 time of under 2.5 seconds.

Both cars feature carbon fiber-reinforced chassis and advanced aerodynamics, including adjustable rear wings, ensuring stability and grip at high speeds. The 918 Spyder stands out with its Acid Green highlights, a nod to Porsche’s hybrid-electric models and comes with numerous factory features like the Carbon Fiber Interior Package and front-axle lift system.

The McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder, each in their unique ways, have set benchmarks for future supercar designs. The P1’s detailed customization and the 918 Spyder’s rare Mexico Blue livery make them highly coveted among enthusiasts and collectors, the only thing that would make this auction even more special is if there were a Blu Elettrico finished LaFerrari — still, having two-thirds of the trinity present at this auction is no small feat.

Interested collectors will be able to begin bidding on the vehicles starting December 8, either online or in person at Sotheby’s 1334 York Ave, New York, NY location.
