ASICS and COSTS Team Up Again for the GT-2160 "SHAO JI"
Expressed in a subtle Oatmeal colorway accented by a variety of co-branding elements.
ASICS and COSTS, the Shenzhen-based fashion label and retailer have teamed up again, this time for the GT-2160 “SHAO JI” — a sporty silhouette dressed in an understated Oatmeal colorway and accented with various co-branded elements.
This latest release follows a collaboration from early August, in which the two released the “Cane Vine,” an outdoor-inspired pair with significant Cantonese expressions. Notably, the “SHAO JI” departs from the outdoor aesthetic and instead embraces a more urban-ready style.
The GT-2160 “SHAO JI” features an upper crafted from breathable mesh, inspired by the knitted style of “SHAO JI,” a traditional Chinese weaving technique. The shoe’s subtle Oatmeal colorway is complemented by touches of Indigo Blue throughout. One of the most distinct features is the embroidery of “SHAO JI” and its Chinese expression “筲箕” on the main eyelet stays at the center of the tongue.
In addition to the Indigo blue found on various parts of the upper, like the iconic ASICS stripes, the color is also carried over to the outsole but in a slightly brighter representation that pops against a partially white outsole. Other notable design elements include co-branding on two pairs of laces, the tongue, heel and insoles — which also feature various inspired prints.
The COSTS x ASICS GT-2160 “SHAO JI” is available for purchase now via COSTS’ official site with a few remaining sizes but is also slated to release via ASICS’ global site on November 28, priced at $140 USD.
