ABT Sportsline, a Germany-based company known for its motor racing and auto-tuning, has revealed its latest creation, the ABT XGT Audi R8 — a street-legal expression of the LMS GT2. The XGT stands to represent a fusion of a super sports car and a racing vehicle.

Notably, the XGT underwent an extensive two-year development process at the ABT factory in Kempten. It emerges as a road-legal racing car, boasting a 5.2L V10 FSI engine with an impressive 640 hp and a weight of just over 3,000 lbs. Production examples of the vehicle will be limited to 99 units, each of which will be a bespoke rendering based on client requests.

ABT Sportsline’s rich history in DTM racing, marked by over 300 races, numerous victories and over 250 podium finishes since 2000, laid the groundwork for the XGT’s development. “The challenge itself spurred us on to develop this unique complete vehicle. The XGT is the quintessence of our heritage,” explained Hans-Jürgen Abt, reflecting on the journey from a GT2 racing car to a road-legal vehicle.

The XGT’s road adaptation required significant modifications, including around 40 individual approvals. It underwent rigorous crash tests and met all KBA specifications regarding brakes and noise levels. Despite these modifications, the XGT retains its racing DNA, evident in its technical features and racetrack performance.

For everyday usability, the XGT includes a series fuelling system, modified instrument cluster, handbrake, central locking, reversing camera and immobilizer. The control panel, adapted for road use, controls electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, air conditioning and indicators.

Priced at €598,000 EUR or $655,061 USD, the ABT XGT is available in four colors, each a handcrafted unit with various customization options. Order inquiries can be placed via ABT’s official site and those interested in viewing the vehicle can do so at its showroom in Mainz, near Frankfurt Airport, as well as at its Kempten location.
