Nicki Minaj Pushes 'Pink Friday 2' Back to December

Nicki Minaj took to Instagram live with “three major updates” regarding her imminent, highly anticipated project, Pink Friday 2. While the album was slated to be released on November 17, Minaj has ultimately decided to postpone its release for a multitude of reasons.

“I have never in my life been so in love with something I’m working on,” Minaj prefaced Pink Friday 2, which she explains “has been something that’s been coming for five years” now. Minaj admits to struggling from extended periods of “writer’s block” while she was pregnant but has now built the album to be something she’s very proud of, to say the least.

“This entire album will be the biggest gift I’ve ever given humanity thus far. I can stand by that. I will bet any amount of money that Pink Friday 2 is going to make people fall in love immediately.”

“For about two reasons, I have changed my album date,” Minaj asserts, claiming it has been changed behind the scenes for some time now. She points to Lil Wayne and 2Chainz‘s joint Welcome 2 Collegrove album – which the duo just announced lands on November 17 – explaining that Weezy would never dare do her dirty and drop an album on the same day as Pink Friday 2. “The new album date for this incredible body of work that I am so proud of, is on a very special day to me and to the Barbz. Pink Friday 2 will be out on my birthday, December 8th.”

As for the other major updates, Minaj also unveiled the name and release date of her new perfume launch, which typically coincide with her album releases. Aptly entitled “Pink Friday 2,” the fragrance lands on December 13 and December 26 via Amazon and JCPenney, respectively. Watch Minaj’s entire message in the Instagram live above.
