BAPE Revisits Iconic Michael Jackson Looks
Including a co-branded version of Jackson’s “Thriller” varsity jacket that is limited to 50 numbered units.

Part of what made the late Michael Jackson the “King of Pop” was his iconic looks and dance moves. Celebrating this, Japanese label A Bathing Ape (BAPE) has assembled a collaborative capsule that commemorates his legacy.
Leading the range, a red and yellow varsity jacket replicates the one spotted in the original music video for Jackson’s mega-hit “Thriller.” The jacket nods to both Jackson and BAPE with thematic graphics joined by embroidery above the left sleeve cuff that denotes its number out of the very-limited run of 50 jackets that have been produced. From there, long-sleeve tees in black and white start with a recreation of the “Smooth Criminal” lean with Jackson and BABY MILO depicted in BAPE’s instantly-recognizable art style while a blue camo hit is located at the right sleeve. The other long-sleeve sees a silhouette of Jackson doing his “Billie Jean” toe stand on top of an APE HEAD. Pivoting to the three short-sleeve tee designs in black and white, the first depicts Jackson in a BAPE camo-covered suit doing the lean with co-branding and a “KING OF POP” hit at the front. Elsewhere, BABY MILO and friends dance with Jackson in his “Thriller” music video outfit while the final tee serves as a tribute with various portraits of Jackson paired with an APE HEAD.
Fans of A Bathing Ape and Michael Jackson can look forward to the six-piece capsule’s release on October 28 via BAPE. Prices are set at ¥9,900 JPY (approx. $66 USD) and ¥12,100 JPY (approx. $81 USD) for the short-sleeve and long-sleeve tees respectively with the numbered varsity jacket coming in at a price of ¥143,000 (approx. $953 USD).
