Detailed Look at A Forthcoming Fear of God x adidas Basketball Sneaker
As the wait for the launch of Fear of God Athletics continues.
If there’s one thing that can be said about Fear of God founder Jerry Lorenzo, it’s that he’s a master of suspense. FoG and adidas announced a long-term partnership all the way back at the tail end of 2020, one in which Lorenzo would lead adidas Basketball‘s creative and business strategies as well as create Fear of God Athletics, a new sub-label that would complete the FoG triumvirate alongside Essentials and the brand’s main-line clothing. Now, it’s almost 2023, and we have yet to see a single official release from Fear of God Athletics, though there has been an official preview of select goods, and, of course, plenty of high-heat leaks, including a recent detailed look at a forthcoming Fear of God x adidas Basketball sneaker provided by ever-active sneaker leaker knowing_kicks.
The model, which Lorenzo was spotted wearing back in May, is a mid-cut, basketball-inspired sneaker that offers a two-piece synthetic black and grey upper. Its thick black rope laces are secured via a TPU Three Stripe graphic overlay on the midfoot that doubles as eyestays, and a toggle on the neoprene coller offers a further customizable fit. Besides the aforementioned midfoot overlay, the only other piece of branding is a black Fear of God badge on the rear of the sharply-shaped, semi-transparent midsole that may be filled with BOOST cushioning. A herringbone outsole completes the look.
At the time of writing, the shoe’s name — and its release date — are still unknown. However, back in May adidas indicated that Fear of God Athletics would launch in the second half of 2023, meaning that this sneaker should (hypothetically) release before the end of the year. The increasing amount of leaks in recent months, ranging from three Rivalry Low 86 colorways to a retro running-inspired model, also lend weight to the though of an impending arrival.

In the meantime, fans are simply dreaming of a release date.
