Marni Taps Dingyun Zhang for Exaggerated FW23 Outerwear

As part of its continued commitment to creative exchange, Marni has now tapped designer Dingyun Zhang for a capsule collection of Fall/Winter 2023 outerwear. The co-designed special range features a limited series of down-filled outerwear that serves as everyday functional garments. The styles investigate the “superhuman” appearance and the relationship with individuals to present organic silhouettes that protect and elevate the body through exaggerated proportions.
“The Marni Dingyun Zhang co-designed outerwear is an exemplary expression of Marni’s distinctive take on materiality, seamlessly combined with Ding’s radical approach to utilitarian design, patternmaking, and three-dimensionality,” shares Marni.
The collaboration is hinged on textures, primary colors, polka dots, and windowpane motifs that come together to create a poetic and daring exploration. The styles are oft-hand knitted from Marni’s mohair that bringing a level of luxury and warmth while presenting the unique methodology of Zhang. The down feather insulated wears moves to reveal skillful sculpting and dynamism in design.
