AVI-8 Reveals Limited-Edition Bell X-1 "Glamorous Glennis"
Available in four different iterations, each limited to a production of 150 examples.

AVI-8 has revealed its latest timepiece, the Bell X-1 “Glamorous Glennis” Automatic Limited Edition, available in four different iterations, each of which is limited to 150 examples. The watchmaker shared that the timepiece is a heartfelt tribute to the groundbreaking X-1 aircraft #46-062. Notably, the aircraft, piloted by Chuck Yeager, etched its name in history by achieving the first-ever human-piloted supersonic flight in 1947.
The launch of this exquisite watch coincides with the 76th anniversary of the iconic supersonic flight, marking the date of October 14, 1947, when Yeager soared over California’s Mojave Desert in the Bell X-1. In addition to being a literal time-keeping instrument, it also is a marker of the past and present, honoring the legacy of aviation pioneers.
Details of the watches include a robust 316L stainless steel case and a vibrant orange aluminum bezel, echoing the unique paintwork of the X-1 aircraft. Its dial mirrors the cockpit instrumentation of the X-1, featuring oversized Arabic hour indexes. Additionally, its altimeter and speed indicator-inspired hands further enhance its aviation-themed aesthetics. The watch also features a scratch-resistant sapphire lens coated generously with Swiss Super-LumiNova.
Behind the dial, powering the Bell X-1 “Glamorous Glennis” is the Seiko TMI-NH35 automatic movement and with enthusiasts in mind, the watch’s exhibition case back reveals a custom-shaped rotor adorned with artwork reminiscent of the X-1’s jet engines. Wearers have the option to choose between a solid articulated H-link tapered bracelet or a custom rubber and leather strap, offering both style and adaptability.
Each watch comes in an elegant field box, housing both the timepiece and a miniature X-1 model on a standalone base, accompanied by a limited-edition Bell X-1 cap.
The AVI-8 Limited-Edition Bell X-1 “Glamorous Glennis,” depending on the selected iteration, is priced between $435 USD to $455 USD and will be available via the watchmaker’s official site later today, October 14.
