Ahluwalia Celebrates Bartenders Across the UK With Limited-Edition Satin Bomber
The British label teamed up with Glenfiddich distillery for the project.
London-based menswear label Ahluwalia is celebrating the local bartending community with a new collaboration entitled “Glenfiddich Rare Measures by Ahluwalia.” Teaming up with family-owned scotch distillery Glenfiddich, the brand has designed a comfortable and elevated lightweight bomber jacket.
For the garment, designer Priya Ahluwalia created a gender-neutral jacket integrating contemporary influences with an old-school silhouette. Like all of Ahluwalia’s releases, the piece is made entirely out of vintage and upcycled materials. The front and back the jacket feature satin panels printed with a version of Ahluwalia’s distinct wave pattern combined with a map of Glenfiddich’s distillery in Dufftown, Scotland. Contrasting with the bright orange, green, brown and blue palette of the satin is the basis for the jacket, which comes in a dark navy merino lambswool.
“Being able to immerse myself in the history and character of Glenfiddich whilst up at the distillery was an integral part of the creative process,” Ahluwalia said. “I wanted to create something that was true to the Ahluwalia world aesthetic, whilst incorporating Glenfiddich’s history, but most importantly championed its drive to innovate and look forward.”
“We’ve used the original distillery map as the base design as the centerpiece of the jacket then combined traditional and contemporary materials to represent the brand’s modern values.”
Only 150 jackets have been created and will be gifted to bartenders across the UK as a token of recognition for their work. Just five jackets will be available to through a lottery ballot on the Glenfiddich website.
