Donald Glover Confirms He Will Still Make Music as Childish Gambino
Seemingly not yet retired.
Donald Glover recently attended the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton where he was up for the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series. At the red carpet, the artist caught up with E! News to clarify a long-standing rumor regarding his music career.
When asked about Childish Gambino‘s future in music, Gambino gave fans an update stating, “I’m making music right now. I love it. I’m actually in the studio. I’ve been bringing people in, like secret people, working on little things. I’ve been just making it for fun right now. But soon something will happen. I promise.”Later, the co-creator of Atlanta was also asked to clarify his previously claims of retiring from music – to which he responded, “That was out in the ethos. You don’t have to worry about that. He’ll be back. He’s here right now.”
The artist first made his retirement claim in 2017 when he said he would retire his alias. Back then, he spoke to HuffPost and explained, “There’s nothing worst than like a third sequel, like a third movie and we’re like, ‘Again?’ You know, I like it when something’s good and when it comes back there’s a reason to come back, there’s a reason to do that.”
Childish Gambino has not confirmed when the new music will arrive just yet.
