Phoebe English returns with a new presentation for the Spring/Summer 2023 season. The designer continued to showcase her no-fuss garment aesthetic. With the main focus on both technicality and functionality, this collection also looks towards the British designer’s pivot towards sustainability practices.

The outerwear pieces for this season were made in collaboration with Suffolk-based factory Lavenham Jackets, known for their high-quality quilted pieces. The material was sourced from firms close to the factory and worn against bags made from scarp material generated in the development process. Highlighting the boxy cut and the generous silhouette, “cloud” shirting and pants were tailored with gentle curve hems and more conventional chore jackets and workwear pants.

The collection utilizes mostly all upcycled fabrics and takes from literal scraps, to assemble into grid-like patterns seen in salmon pink, black, and white. Her current ready-to-wear collection evokes simplicity and comfort and ease of wear, in outfits that work for a casual day outing. While minimal on the outside, the construction is complex and shows off intricate craftsmanship that creates linear silhouettes signature to the brand.
