Kid Cudi Gets Real About How Virgil Abloh's Involvement Inspired the Fashion in 'Entergalactic'

In an exclusive clip shared to Hypebeast, Netflix dives deeper into the meaning behind the fashion choices for its upcoming, much-anticipated new animated series, Entergalactic. A project close to Kid Cudi‘s heart and a curated from the mind behind Man on the Moon, the multi-hyphenate wanted to make sure that this series was like no other animation ever seen before.
When it came down to the details of the fashion statements of the show, Cudi made sure that each character was wearing something in a different episode. Executive producer Kenya Barris spoke about how they ensured that each character stayed true to current trends, down to which season the shoes are from to the aesthetic they had. It was important to the team that a sense of realism was maintained so that the audiences could sense the timing of the scenes.
Cudi spoke specifically about how his late friend and designer Virgil Abloh was a major inspiration behind his fashion choices for the animation. He understood that Abloh’s footprint in the fashion industry expanded beyond the runways and retailers. Director Fletcher Moules explained that Abloh’s involvement in the series was principal to the fashion narrative of Entergalactic. Cudi reiterates how Abloh’s designs were integral to telling the story and just how much his legacy continues to expound.
