Remember when Hypebeast said Aries had grown up? Well, now Sofia Prantera‘s London-based imprint doubles down on this mantra, welcoming its first collaboration with the avant-garde sunglasses brand RETROSUPERFUTURE with two takes on the ZED silhouette.

With this collaboration, Aries and RETROSUPERFUTURE have looked into each other’s icon status with a choice of colors harnessing their creative energy. From “Aries Aqua” to “Havana,” the ZED is designed to reflect on each collaborator’s symbolism while ushering in a sport-luxe aesthetic that both brands ooze.

The result is a set of sunglasses that combine technical, sporting undertones with high-fashion elements, leaning well into the maturity that infiltrates Aries’ Fall/Winter 2022 collection. Thick acetate adds bulk, but the choice of smooth curves and angular touches on the temples that come courtesy of a specially-designed lens cut enhance this attitude, while Aries’ signature column motif has been set into the arms in gold-toned metal, and once more in a laser-graphic on the bridge.

Altogether, Aries’ RETROSUPERFUTURE ZED collaboration elevates the former once again, introducing new styles for an audience that wants to recognize the brand’s streetwear roots but, like it, also elevate the aesthetic. The ZED is the perfect pair for this, as its rectangular design harks back to ’90s sportswear sunnies, while the choice of colorways proffers a sense of formality.

The collaborative sunnies will drop on Aries’ website on September 8 for £250 GBP apiece (approx. $288 USD). Take a closer look at the campaign above.
