Ubisoft has finally announced its next Assassin’s Creed installment Assassin’s Creed Mirage following earlier leaked images and details from industry insiders. Earlier today, the video game developer took to Twitter to announce the next chapter in the longstanding action RPG franchise along with a first teaser image of how it’ll look, and while it hasn’t divulged any other details, for the time being, the post seemingly confirms previous rumors leaked by YouTuber j0nathan.

The leaker claimed on Wednesday that Mirage would be set during the Anarchy at Samarra between the year 860 and 870, with players taking on the character of Basim as he navigates his way through the conflict.

The official announcement also comes just shortly after two other images revolving around the game leaked on Twitter, with one showing just artwork while the other includes the game’s logo as well as the text line The Forty Thieves Quest. The name itself points towards a Middle Eastern fable speaking of a prince who takes revenge against Mongol invaders, but there’s little information for now as to how this ties in with the latest installment itself. Kotaku does point out, however, that the style of the artwork resembles other ones from Ubisoft that were used as promotional material for DLCs, so it’s possible the company has already planned ahead for more expansions to Mirage.

For fans of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Ubisoft will be revealing more about the upcoming Mirage on September 10.

Elsewhere in gaming, Aliens: Fireteam Elite has released a gameplay trailer for its new Pathogen expansion.
