KARDO Pays Tribute to Indian Artisans for FW22
Entitled “Trip to Kullu.”
Since its inception, emerging label KARDO has kept its practices close to home, constantly utilizing handcrafted Indian textiles to create menswear in its New Delhi workshop. Founded by London-born Rikki Kher in 2013, the brand prides itself in quality, championing indigenous Indian communities through high-caliber design techniques.
For its Fall/Winter 2022 collection KARDO has chosen to pay tribute to its artisan craftsmen, spreading a message of gratitude. Entitled “Trip to Kullu,” the range honors its widespread team, from cotton growers to yarn spinners and garment dyers. Transitional outerwear is grounded and submerged in heavy graphics. Workwear jackets, wool coats, cozy zip-up fleeces and blazers are detailed with mesmerizing geometrical motifs in a palette of navy, grey, red, “Forest Green,”"Burnt Orange” and cream. Beaded panels are present throughout, while hand-embroidered patterns decorate long-sleeve polo shirts, tops and hoodies with decadent florals.
Garments are also delivered with a sustainably dyed approach, while outerwear is paired with matching trousers and bucket hats for a complete fit.
In an effort to respect its workers, every garment features a hang tag highlighting the hands that have produced it.
