Zenith has revealed its second DEFY Extreme E Special Edition chronograph to mark the current stage of the electric rally championship.

The DEFY Extreme E “Island X Prix” edition is based on Zenith’s DEFY Extreme Carbon 1/100th of a second automatic chronograph, but integrates upcycled elements from the championship and includes the stage’s vivid orange color.

The 45mm case, crown and pushers are formed of carbon fiber, while the pusher protectors and bezel are made of micro-blasted titanium.

The open, multi-layered dial features a number of tinted sapphire crystal panes which reveals the fastest automatic high-frequency chronograph in production, with its 5Hz timekeeping train and 50Hz chronograph train. The Island X Prix logo features on the sapphire crystal caseback.

The watch is supplied on a rubber strap “infused with materials of recycled Continental CrossContact tires that were used in the first season’s races.” The Velco strap features orange cordura-effect rubber inlay and is supplied with additional black rubber and black Velcro straps.

Extreme E Island X, the second stage of the second season of Extreme E, is currently taking place in Sardinia. Zenith is both Official Timekeeper and Founding Partner of the Extreme E championship.

The DEFY Extreme E “Island X Prix” is a limited edition of just 20 pieces, available now via Zenith, priced $27,100 USD.
