Pocari Sweat, a Japanese energy drink popular throughout Asia and the Middle East, will soon be launching in 250ml recycled glass bottles. Partnering with global reuse platform Loop, the sustainability-focused initiative will first begin in select regions in Japan including Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Kyoto, etc. via 66 Aeon supermarkets and the Aeon Loop website.

The physical locations will house exclusive Pocari Bottle recycling stations where the glass bottles will be refilled and sold again after deep cleaning. With Loop systems currently in place in countries around the world including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and France, the recycling program could soon be expanded internationally. Bottles are found in Pocari’s signature blue tints with white branding and sealed metal caps.

The new Pocari Sweat glass bottle sports drinks will be priced at ¥230 JPY (approximately $1.70 USD) and are expected to debut on July 12.
