sacai's SS23 Collection is Unusual, Authentic and Original
Reunited with Eric Haze and revealing a Clarks Wallabee collaboration.
Taking part in Paris Fashion Week, designer and founder Chitose Abe shared sacai‘s Spring/Summer 2023 Men’s collection. Standing in the unusual, authentic and original, Abe took on her signature styles with a splicing approach to create a new outlook for the season. Undoubtedly coming in sacai form, the approach of the season created “a sense of informality to silhouettes,” utilizing materials to pay respect to tradition.
Menswear staples were reimagined to create new archetypes marked by “a new creative energy and sartorial nonchalance.” Tailoring fabrics sourced from Loro Piana were manipulated to form parkas and sport-leaning silhouettes. While Thomas Mason shirting served as the material base for a bibbed, shorts, pajamas and more. sacai also experimented with pleats to lend a feminine air to the men’s tailoring prevalent in the collection.
sacai has also reconnected with artist Eric Haze to mark the SS23 collection. Haze’s “One Kind Word” and “As One” markings serve as decorative prints and embroideries found on styles. Additionally, the Japanese label also revealed a Clarks Wallabee collaboration for the season, for men and women, centered around overbuilt soles.
