Nike Suits up the Air Griffey Max 1 in a "San Francisco Giants" Colorway
A follow-up to the “Los Angeles” edition.
Earlier this year, the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 was seen in “Aqua” to honor Ken Griffey Jr.’s time spent with the Seattle Mariners. The sportswear giant then followed up with another iteration paying homage to the LA Rams, Dodgers and Lakers.
Expanding beyond Griffey Jr.’s career history, Nike continues the California theme with a new “San Francisco Giants” outfit. “The Kid” and Bay Area may not have any connection from the past, but the silhouette is known to highlight more than relative aspects of Griffey Jr. and his iconic moments.
Black nubuck overlays featuring wavy slits open up to a Sail leather base to kick off the construction. The rest of the uppers are decked in black from the tongue to the laces, pull tabs and ankle straps. A recognizable Burnt Orange hue details the branding elements and the lacing system while the former baseball outfielder’s jersey number “24” acts as strap tabs. Rounding out the look is a white midsole housing Air units over a black rubber outsole.
Look out for the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 “San Francisco Giants” set to release in the coming weeks at select retailers and via Nike’s website for $170 USD.
