Ahluwalia's Spring 2023 Collection Explores the Beauty of Africa

For Spring 2023, designer Priya Ahluwalia shared her expansion into womenswear for Ahluwalia, her eponymous label. The presentation held in the city of London served as an exploration of the beauty of Africa. The showcase investigated the nations of the continent through a variety of creative routes. Employing models from both Africa and India, referencing Priya Ahluwalia’s dual heritage, the presentation was scored by sounds of North, West and South Africa.
Building on Ahluwalia’s established bold menswear, the womenswear expression continues the label’s aesthetic ethos. Despite developing its garment sensibility, ethical and sustainable practices are maintained throughout the collection.
The Spring 2023 range is marked by Ahluwalia’s signature wave-tailoring knitwear, directly drawn from the football kits of African nations, and relaxed styles offering generous shapes. The collection also offers selections between tailoring and sportswear defined by bright and bold color mixes. Rounding up the Spring 2023 menswear expansion are shawls worn in a variety of ways, sharing convertibility in wear inspired by traditional African styling.
