BMW has unveiled its all-new X7, appearing in guises ranging from the xDrive40i to the M60i and the coveted Alpina XB7. For 2023, the X7 puts the focus on “more presence, more sportiness [and] more technology,” but truthfully, the SUV comes with more of everything.

Specifically, the X7 now welcomes an even larger kidney grille which is sure to split opinions harder than it splits the car’s front-end into two defined segments. However, in M60i and “Black Pack” form, the grille makes for a commanding presence, which is only accentuated by the thin headlights that sit at the bridge of the bonnet and front bumper. Coupled with a redesigned M Sport package, lightweight alloy wheels measuring up to 23 inches and the latest-generation control system including BMW Curved Display and BMW iDrive 8, and the new X7 is one formidable luxury SUV that is poised to take on the new Range Rover.

Making the X7 standout, even more, is the integrated grille illumination, which comes as standard on the flagship M60i. This will only highlight the sheer mass of this SUV, which is accentuated by a large lower air intake and high-gloss black trim on the outer edges of the air curtain when the M Sport pack is applied. This new finishing option also adds trapezoidal exhaust tailpipe finishers in “Dark Shadow,” once again making for a menacing aesthetic.

As for engines, the new BMW X7 comes with either a three-liter TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine that produces 375 BHP, or a 523 BHP 4.4-liter M TwinPower Turbo V8 in the BMW X7 M60i, which is undoubtedly the one to choose. 48V mild-hybrid technology comes as standard with both cars, giving them an extra push from the start. Combined with 553 lb-ft of torque in the V8, the BMW X7 M60i will do the 0-60 MPH sprint in just 4.5 seconds.

As for Alpina’s XB7, that takes the performance to another level. Here, a 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8 now produces 630 BHP and 590 lb-ft of torque, sending the car all the way to 180 MPH after doing the 60 MPH stint in four seconds flat. However, regardless of the spec you choose, the BMW X7 has been redesigned to be more dynamic, with the M60i coming with tuned dampers and suspension elements for a more engaging drive.

Rounding out the list of crucial updates is the host of tech inside the cabin, which ranges from augmented reality navigation, 5G connectivity, a digital key, a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch central control display, and more. Take a look at the BMW X7 above, and find out more about the car online. The models will launch in Q3 2022, ranging from $77,850 for the xDrive40i to $103,100 USD for the M60i before options, while the XB7 will come in early 2023.
