A Look Into Life in Los Angeles With the 'North of the 10' Cast

The new movie North of the 10 follows five friends who are rising influencers, showing the highs and lows of chasing their dreams to go viral in Hollywood. Now streaming on BET+, the characters take inspiration from viral video stars with skills that range from acting to gaming. To showcase what life in L.A. is really like, Don Benjamin, who plays a wannabe model Cam Weston, took HYPEBEAST for a tour of his favorite spots in the city.

Hailing from Chicago, the characters in North of the 10 are focused on growing their social media presence and building with one another in a new city. But when he’s not filming, Don likes shopping for the latest releases at streetwear stores like Bodega. Rocking a pair of red-colored Dunks, he checks out the latest apparel and tries on a sherpa jacket with an abstract pattern.
After shopping, Don heads over to the restaurant Girl & the Goat to refuel in between checking out the stores downtown. “I spend a lot of time in Downtown L.A. working since a lot of photo studios are down here. That’s how I discovered Girl & the Goat,” he says. The new buzzy restaurant by chef Stephanie Izard, who is from Chicago, features large, bright windows and small dishes inspired by global influences.
The final stop on Don’s itinerary is the expansive Dover Street Market location that’s also located in the Arts District. He starts browsing the racks of the latest from BRAINDEAD, which offers unconventional knits and pieces that feature an eccentric twist on streetwear trends. With its selection of emerging and designer brands, Dover Street Market is an ideal spot not just for Don, but also for his character Cam Weston, who attempts to fool his love interest into thinking he’s a famous model.
