The long-awaited supernatural action-adventure game, Ghostwire: Tokyo arrives online and in-stores exclusively for PlayStation 5 and PC users today.

Following the release of The Evil Within, Tango Gameworks returns with a mystical thriller where players traverse a futuristic Tokyo, Japan, overrun by the mysterious Hannya, a supernormal figure responsible for vanishing 99% of Tokyo inhabitants. The title merges cyberpunk and fantasy genres, inviting you, the chosen protagonist, to venture into the spiritual underbelly of Tokyo.

Ghostwire: Tokyo sets itself apart from familiar action-adventure titles by incorporating Japanese mythology and paranormal folktales into its gameplay. Players will use magic-themed combat like Ethereal Weaving, a series of hand gestures to cast spells, to defeat various opponents throughout the first-person gameplay.

From the Kuchisake-onna, a female spirit with Joker-esque scars on either side of her face, to the Hachishakusama, a female rendition of the Slenderman, Ghostwire: Tokyo supplies a handful of spectral foes gamers must defeat before reaching the spine-chilling boss, Hannya.

Sci-fi and adventure enthusiasts will appreciate the gameplay’s dystopian environment serving gorgeous film noir graphics à la Ridley Scott’s 1982 Blade Runner. Players will traverse an ultramodern Tokyo, illuminated in neon lights with Japanese landmarks rendered throughout.

Take a look at the gameplay in the trailer above and head over to PlayStation’s home website to purchase the new title. Ghostwire: Tokyo will be available to other consoles, starting March 25, 2023.
