Before the bright lights of the NBA, Rui Hachimura experienced the carefree joy of sport through his bike rides to basketball practice. Last year, the Washington Wizards forward partnered with American bicycle brand Cannondale to reconnect with his youth and help spread the adventures he cherished as a child. The result is a stealth city bike dubbed the Quick 3 “Rui Edition.”

Perfect for exercise, getting around town or just feeling good, the bicycle features a prominent red-to-black colorway that is complemented by a triangular pattern inspired by traditional Japanese hemp leaves. The Quick 3 comes equipped with a lightweight aluminum frame and carbon fiber fork with 360-degree reflective accents, along with Shimano Altus/Acera 18-speed drivetrain with hydraulic disc brakes and an integrated wheel sensor to help track speed, distance and calories burned.

Additional details include the logo of Rui’s Black Samurai label stamped at the base and seat clamp of the bike. “Whether it’s fitness, transportation, adventure or getting to practice like I did, there are so many doors that get opened when you make biking part of your life,” said Rui in a statement. Hiroki Ito, head of Cannondale marketing in Japan, would add that Rui shares the company’s “passion for bringing cycling to more people and this ride marks the start of an exciting relationship between Cannondale, Rui and our fans.”

The Cannondale Quick 3 “Rui Edition” will be available in a range of sizes for ¥129,800 YEN / $1,064 USD on April 7.
