Dublin-born Robyn Lynch never forgets her roots, and for Fall/Winter 2022 the designer showcased her Irish lads in her most extensive, technical, and impressive body of work to date.

Taking to London Fashion Week at the weekend, Lynch debuted 10 jackets made in collaboration with Columbia, with all of the pieces made from deadstock materials to continue the designer’s sustainable effort. Speaking on this, Lynch said, “Revisiting this project with Columbia has been an eye-opening experience. Getting to learn from industry leaders on technical fabrication development and  science has been a highlight of this season, which has definitely influenced the way I work with deadstock, but also my approach to design in general.” She added, “I’m becoming more precise with the upcycling process in understanding which aspects work and which don’t.”

And for FW22, it really did work for the NEWGEN-approved designer. Cropped puffers were sinched and ruched, adorned with scalloped edges on the sleeves and served in bright hues of neon yellow, while matching knitwear sported intarsia works of her homeland. Paired with short-shorts, knitted balaclavas and customized Columbia footwear, these puffer-centric looks were awkward and ravey, giving her Irish lads an air of exploration.

The array of knitwear continued with the injection of trompe l’oeil intarsia, taking her dad’s Dublin football jerseys from the ’90s and noughties and scanning them in collaboration with Japan’s fashion lab Synflux to create illusionary sweaters. Her signature merino wool jumper from her graduate collection was remastered and refined, while embellished pants made up the most formal parts of Lynch’s FW22 collection.
