Last night the BRIT Awards returned for 2022, celebrating and honoring some of the greatest musicians in the world. Kicking off with a performance from Ed Sheeran and Bring Me The Horizon, the ceremony was back in full swing complete with fireworks, flames, and an audience keen to enjoy every moment of being back in the O2, with all of this coming together thanks to the night’s host Mo Gilligan, who did a stellar job at impersonating Liam Gallagher and poking fun at the British Prime Minister’s cheese fiasco.

Indeed, Liam Gallager performed his latest song “Everything’s Electric,” while Little Simz also came on stage to give a powerful rendition of “Introvert” and “Woman.” Other performances included Adele doing “I Drink Wine,” Sam Fender with “17 Going Under,” and Dave, who closed the show with “In The Fire,” enlisting Ghetts, Giggs, Fredo, Konyikeh and Meekz to perform alongside him in a final song that truly encapsulated the spirit of the night — powerful homegrown talent.

There were many expected wins, and some surprising ones too. For example, Adele won Song of The Year for “Easy On Me,” while International Song of the Year went to Olivia Rodrigo‘s “Good 4 U.”

Elsewhere, we saw wins from Dua Lipa for Pop/R&B Act, Sam Fender for Alternative/Rock Act, Becky Hill for Dance, Wolf Alice for Group, Billie Eilish for International Artist of the Year, Little Simz for Best New Artist, Dave for Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act, Silk Sonic/Bruno Mars/Anderson .Paak for Internation Group, Adele again for Artist of the Year (following the BRITs’ non-gendered category change), another one for Adele with Mastercard Album of the Year, and finally, Ed Sheeran was awarded Songwriter of the Year.

Rounding out the list of winners is Holly Humberstone, who in association with BBC Radio 1 and her impressive rise in 2021, was awarded the Rising Star accolade. The night was the perfect moment to honor some of the best artists in the country and the world, but also to honor where it all started for many of these musicians, as shown by Little Simz who brought her mom on stage when winning her award, saying “Look at what you’ve done, mom.”

The BRIT Awards 2022 can be re-watched on YouTube — follow the #BRITsUnseen hashtag on YouTube Shorts for exclusive BTS content. Additionally, for the first time, the BRITs has also launched its own NFT with Serenade, designed by the West Midlands-born digital artist MRE. NFTs are just £10 GBP each (approx. $13.50 USD) and more information can be found online.
