Iconic athleticwear brand PONY is reaching into its archives to revive the classic M-100 sneaker for a limited edition re-release for the label’s 50-year anniversary. As the brand name entails (Product of New York), the company was born in Manhattan during the early ‘70s, the era when PONY set its foundation on originality and authenticity inspired by New York culture. From players on the basketball court to break dancers on cardboard, PONY created sneakers for authentic individuals. The M-100 model is reflective of this ethos and 50-year heritage, and is now being reintroduced to a whole new generation of authentic trailblazers.

The M-100 is a high-top design that blends the functionality of a basketball shoe with the look and feel of a cross-training sneaker. The 50th anniversary model also comes in white and gold – white leather uppers dominate the shoes alongside gold trim accents. Gum rubber outsoles add a touch of contrast and grip functionality for those looking to play ball in them. To commemorate the special anniversary, the brand’s iconic slogan, “When Sports Are More Than Just A Game,” alongside a big 50 is embellished on the inside of the tongue in gold typography.

PONY is gearing up to make a resurgence in the sneaker world with the M-100’s limited edition re-release. The drop also marks a new era for the iconic athletic brand with parent company Iconix International signing a multi-year licensing deal with Genesco, a company known for crafting high-quality designs with innovative styles. “We look forward to our continued relationship with Genesco as we partner together on PONY’s exciting relaunch into the marketplace in time for their 50th Anniversary,” said Robert Galvin, CEO of Iconix International, Inc. “PONY has been part of the sports and fashion landscape for five decades, relaunching the brand will allow us to capitalize on the growing consumer demand for sport heritage brands.” The M-100 silhouette will be the spotlight for PONY heading into the new year with a wide range of updated colorways.

The 50-year anniversary M-100 sneaker retails for $240 USD and can be purchased at pony.com.
