Brought to you by Fucking Awesome’s former designer, PALY is an up-and-coming label that offers unisex apparel with a rebellious spirit. In their Fall/Winter 2022 collection “Hollywood Is Hell,” it’s evident that PALY sought inspiration from its mesmerization in subcultures, music, as well as fragments of the old Hollywood. These notions and images, which PALY refer to as “dreams and nightmares” are then repurposed to adorn the brand’s punkish and retro ready-to-wear pieces.

“Hollywood Is Hell” sets a powerful theme to the collection of distressed shirts, sweatshirts, knitted sweaters and accessories, where each piece tells a unique story. From Larry Fortensky, and Randy Starr to classic icons such as James Dean, Jayne Mansfield, and Don Simpson, PALY aims to capture a snapshot of these figures and the brooding undertones of the time with accompanying collages, graffiti, and doodles that are all over the clothes.

Elaborating on the collection’s subdued yet riotous mood, the lookbook, shot by Aidan Cullen, starred actors Duke Nicholson and Izabel Pakzad as models. Preview the lookbook in the gallery above.

Comprising 15 styles ranging from $75 to $990 USD, the ‘Hollywood Is Hell’ collection is available for purchase via PALY’s official website.
