Fumito Ganryu Reunites With Converse for Baskate Shoes Collab
Combining the functionality of basketball and skateboarding shoes.
Japanese designer Fumito Ganryu just unveiled a second collaboration with Converse under his eponymous label.
Introducing the Baskate Shoes, a pair that combine the functionality of basketball sneakers and skateboarding shoes. Its silhouette is based on Converse’s ERX 260 model, which was a huge hit amongst NBA superstars during the 1980s.
The Baskate Shoes retain the general shape of the beloved ERX 260 silhouette, while details that were inspired by skateboarding shoes are also incorporated. The classic “CONS” logo is also embossed on the tongues of the Baskate, but in a slightly enlarged size. Yet, unlike traditional ERX 260 styles which almost always come with a white base, the Baskate Shoes are doused in a slick black from the upper to the sole. Fitted with Converse’s “ENERGY WAVE” midsoles for enhanced cushioning, the shoes also come equipped with ankle protection.
Launching today, the Baskate Shoes are retailed for ¥29,700 JPY (approximately $210 USD). Available for purchase on both Converse’s website and Fumito Ganryu’s online store, as well as the following stores in Japan.
