The New Balance Rainier is Returning to Shelves This Year
The silhouette returns after a six-year hiatus.

New Balance has a variety of obscure models hidden deep within its archive, one of which is slated to make a return in 2022, marking its re-introduction into the footwear market.
Initially rumored to be an Aimé Leon Dore collaboration, the hiking-inspired silhouette was last seen in 2016 and is revealed with its first in-line makeup. The New Balance Rainier sports a vintage construction that stays true to its original design. Plush brown leather is seen left and right, making its debut on the mudguards, heel counters, and medial panels, while the former is debossed with New Balance insignia.
The collars see linear overlays set atop red-toned leather while contrasting navy nylon protects the wearer from unexpected weather conditions. The latter decorates the toe boxes, forefeet, upper quarters, and tongues fashioned with branded badges.
Metal D-ring clasps replace traditional lacing systems and hold onto textured laces, while hefty VIBRAM sole units provide increased grip for your next adventure.
Take an official look at the New Balance Rainier in the gallery above, and expect it to arrive at New Balance and select retailers later this year.
Elsewhere in footwear, the Air Jordan 1 High receives a classic “White Cement” color scheme.
