Anderson .Paak Debuts 70s-Inspired Limited-Edition Snare Drum Kit
The prolific drummer tapped Ludwig for his first-ever signature kit.
Anderson .Paak has debuted a hilarious new video for his first-ever signature drum kit. Teaming up with the acclaimed drum brand Ludwig for the kit, the Silk Sonic artist’s limited-edition Pee .Wee Signature Drum Collection consists of his first-ever signature snare drum paired with a plush drum rug.
The kit is designed to serve as the drummer’s all-purpose tool. A paisley pattern is printed across Ludwig’s Classic Maple series 7-ply shell, cut with a 45-degree bearing edge that serves to bring the apex close to the center of the drum.
The shell is rigged with brass-plated die-cast hoops, brass-plated tube lugs and a brass-plated throw-off and butt plate, as well as a decorative Ludwig Keystone badge and a commemorative badge.
“I can’t believe it’s really happening! Before I wanted anything, I wanted my own signature snare drum,” .Paak said. “The snare drum is something really custom and unique to your sound. Even if you just have the kick and the snare and high hat – the way you tune your stuff, sometimes, you don’t need all the chops; sometimes it’s just about the sound.”
Each drum kit is autographed by .Paak himself, with only 500 editions of the exclusive kits created, split between a 5 by 14-inch (127 by 356-mm) model priced at $799 USD and a 6.5 by 14-inch (165 by 356-mm) model going for $849 USD. Just 250 of the non-slip rubber backed rugs are available for $149 USD.
“You got the pro finish. You got the custom AP Paisley print. You got the signature badge. You got the signed sticker inside with the AP portrait. It’s got an incredible, impeccable sound. You also have 100% maple [wood], so you already know what that’s about, sweet syrup!” .Paak described. “It’s screaming for you to smack it like crazy, and even if you can’t play, you’re gonna look good, and you can figure out the rest later.”
