Ressence Goes Monochrome With Type 3BBB Limited Edition
The latest version of the oil-filled titanium diver will only be produced in 2022.
Ressence’s original oil-filled mechanical diver, the Type 3, is back with a new limited edition monochrome design.
The Type 3BBB follows the black-dialed Type 3B, the black DLC coated Type 3BB and the white-dialed Type 3W, pairing a black DLC polished grade 5 titanium case with a black dial and white and light grey indices.
The Type 3’s running seconds indicator has been removed from the 3BBB, while the color of the Super-LumiNova accents have been changed from blue to green.
The Belgian watch brand first introduced the revolutionary Type 3 in 2013, a crown-free titanium dive watch with a display that aesthetically owed more to digital devices than traditional watchmaking.
Seeking maximum legibility, Ressence floods the ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System) module and the void between it and the sapphire crystal watch glass with oil, cancelling out any “total internal reflection” and appearing to bring the dial detail to the surface of the glass. The approach also helps achieve perfect legibility underwater. The hermetically-sealed system is magnetically coupled to the modified ETA 2824/2 base movement in a separate chamber.
Ressence will produce the Type 3BBB only during 2022, rather than produce a defined limited number of pieces, the same approach adopted by Patek Philippe in 2021 for its green-dialed Ref 5711.
The watch comes on an anthracite ‘honeycomb’ strap, previously seen on Ressence’s Type 2A, and is available now, priced CHF 36,500 (approximately $38,900 USD). For more information head over to Ressence.
