'Palworld' Delivers a Wild Open-World Survival Game
A much grittier version of ‘Pokémon.’
Following reports of a Redditor who turned Pokémon into a first-person shooter, a new Pokémon-like RPG game titled Palworld has revealed a shocking second trailer.
Displaying a curious blend of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Fortnite, FarmVille, and Pokémon, the trailers display stunning landscapes filled with a diverse array of creatures, referred to as “pals,” including a green Pikachu-sized companion wielding an Uzi, and a rideable yellow Totoro equipped with a minigun.
The Steam page is now live and describes the game as a “multiplayer, open-world survival crafting game” that’s about living a “slow easy-going happy life with mysterious creatures called ‘Pal’ or throwing yourself into life-and-death battles with the villainous poachers.”
“You can sell them, butcher them to eat, give them hard labor, pillage, rob and exercise complete mayhem but this is completely up to the players to make adult decisions like these since the laws in this world prohibit such activities,” the description continues. “Just don’t get caught!”
While the teasers have left viewers with more questions than answers, most comments have been positive, with many embracing the sheer craziness of the game mix.
Palworld is expected to release later this year. In the meantime, take a look at the second trailer above, and the first trailer below.
Elsewhere in gaming, players battle giant alpha Pokémon in the new Pokémon Legends: Arceus trailer.
