NAMESAKE FW21 Comments on Current Worldviews With Latest "BLACK SUNLIGHT" Series
Following their “Contour Line” release.

Following the release of its “Contour Line” series which drew inspiration from agriculture and basketball, NAMESAKE is back with its “BLACK SUNLIGHT” collection for Fall/Winter 2021. Commenting on the social construct of current culture, NAMESAKE is hoping to share a taste of its Taiwanese roots by imposing its own twist on traditional silhouettes and patterns.
This series takes into account fashion sustainability, particularly the ideals of reuse, reduce, recycle. This time around, NAMESAKE is focusing on educating consumers by using more sustainable fabrics, hoping to propel the industry forward in becoming more environmentally friendly. Constructed out of vegan leather and organic cotton fabrics, the raw material is transformed into contemporary outerwear. The collection includes a slew of comfort-focused sweaters including a three-layered outer jacket constructed out of wool, mesh and dry yarn fabric – all of which are combined together as a nod to the agriculture motif this season. Shiny knit fabric is used to pay tribute to the basketball jersey, another motif for FW21. This season continues to see a mismatch of material and oversized silhouettes that come together to ensure each standalone piece is a statement in itself. From sleeveless, pleated button-ups to tie-dye and text-printed blazers, NAMESAKE is stepping away from rigid contour lines and into fluid silhouettes.
