GALL Fall/Winter 2022 is all about merging the designer’s previous works with the present time. Staying consistent with his vision, art and aesthetic, Justin Gall presents a collection that emphasizes the ideal of where maximal meets modesty. This season, the collection is titled “MURK,” which is evident in the visual choice of earthy tones for the majority of its pieces. Focusing on browns, tans, olive greens and the classic black, this collection utilizes geometric pattern-work to highlight the anatomically symmetric aesthetic of the pieces.
Rigid lines and sharp angles are paired with rounded corners to create a collection where tailoring meets volume. The pieces fall effortlessly together for a clean and simple look yet it offers interesting silhouettes that are unconventional to what fashion lovers are usually used to. Long, hooded puffer jackets and vests are paired with comfort-focused sweaters. While pieces are fit for the chillier weather in the Fall/Winter season, oversized pockets on pants give a more technical aesthetic to the collection. Hidden compartments with invisible zippers are disguised as simple seams, giving storage and portability without the clutter. Knitwear is a common theme in this season’s collection. Lapel-less blazers and trench coats with structured shoulders with minimal hollow snap closures as well as long-length utilitarian parkas round out the collection.
