Karl Lagerfeld has officially announced the launch of its debut limited-edition NFT collection on the fashion digital platform, The Dematerialised. The NFT collection pays homage to the iconic designer on his birthday and features an animated character of the unmistakable silhouette of the late Karl Lagerfeld.

The digital figurines are exclusive and are inspired by the designer’s famous quote, “I am like a caricature of myself, and I like that.” The NFT is a playful nod to the statement and is seen as a virtual extension of the brand’s playful Ikonik collection. With seven being Lagerfeld’s lucky number, the first version of the Karl Lagerfeld NFT collectible will have an availability of 777 digital figurines at the price of €77 EUR (approximately $90 USD). The full-color animated caricature whimsically recreates the designer’s signature look and wardrobe, which users will then be able to change through subsequent digital drops.

The second exclusive interpretation will be available in a limited run of 77 NFTs priced at €177 EUR (approximately $210 USD). Different from the other NFT, this figure features a ray of light that gives the figure a metallic and futuristic feel. With every purchase of each NFT, a mangrove tree will be planted through an initiative arranged by The Dematerialised and RE:EARTH to offset their carbon footprint. The sale begins on September 10, 2021 on The Dematerialised at 3 p.m. CET.

In case you missed it, OAMC has linked up with Roden Gray for cyanotype graphic liner jackets.
