ASICS Celebrates the 35th Anniversary of GT-II™ with New Release
Paying tribute to the brand’s first international launch of sneakers with GEL™ technology.
The latest sneaker release from ASICS incorporates elements from the brand’s past, present and future into a new iteration of the GT-II™ shoe. To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the model, the brand is bringing back this important style in a new, cool-toned colorway. Featuring GEL™ technology cushioning and other updates that offer a superior approach to all-day comfort, the latest from ASICS honors its rich heritage with a modern aesthetic.
Marking a significant moment in ASICS’ history, the GT-II™ shoe was the first pair that was launched internationally, instead of only in Japan, with GEL™ technology. Originally released in 1986, the GT-II™ shoe is an athletic silhouette with a styling that was suitable to be worn on the streets. This present day version features its original shape and the external heel clip, with a padded heel collar at the back to provide a comfortable fit around the ankle. Constructed with synthetic suede overlays and mesh underlays, this shoe provides comfort and will stay cool when worn on warmer days. Additional heritage-inspired details like a retro ASICS SportStyle logo is found on the shoe’s tongue, sockliner and outsole.
