The New NBA and Nike Air Force 1 "Lakers" Celebrates the League's 75th Anniversary
Sporting the franchise’s original colorway from Minnesota.

Following the preview of the Nike SB Nyjah Free 2 “Lakers,” the sportswear giant along with the NBA take on a highly coveted silhouette as they debut the Air Force 1 Low “Lakers” to further highlight the league’s 75th anniversary.
In honor of the franchise’s history, the shoe pulled colors from the original uniforms sported in Minneapolis and Los Angeles. With a blinding white leather base, a dark purple hue details the mini Swoosh sitting below the laces, lateral quarter, inner Swoosh and lines the top of the midsole. The eyestays, inner lining, heel tab and outsole are constructed in a baby blue swatch. To cap off the design, the NBA’s 75th-anniversary logo embellishes the top of the tongue while the Lakers’ logo decorates the heel tab.
Back in 1947, the Lakers franchise began in Minneapolis, Minnesota as the team name took inspiration from one of the state’s nicknames, “Land of 10,000 Lakes.” The franchise built up a solid roster with names such as Hall of Famer George Mikan along with playmaker Herm Schaefer and forward Jim Pollard who then proceeded to bag the NBL Championship in the first season. By the 1960 off-season, the Lakers were moved to Los Angeles and became the first West Coast team in the NBA.
Look out for the release of the Air Force 1 Low “Lakers” which is set to drop this fall along with the other celebratory sneakers.
