RLJE Films has released the official trailer for Sion Sono’s Prisoner of the Ghostland, a neo-noir western film starring Nicolas Cage.

Sono’s upcoming title sees Cage as a ruthless bank robber only known as “Hero.” He is sprung from jail by a wealthy warlord known as The Governor (Bill Moseley), who asks Hero to find and rescue his adopted granddaughter, Bernice (Sofia Boutella). If Hero can successfully save Bernice within five days, he will be granted his freedom. If he fails, however, the bombs attached on his leather suit — particularly on his neck, arms and crotch area — will go off.

Also joining Cage, Moseley and Boutella in the main cast are Nick Cassavetes, Tak Sakaguchi, Ed Skrein and Yuzuka Nakaya. Prisoner of the Ghostland is penned by Aaron Hendry and Reza Sixo Safai, and had its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Mike Richards and Mayim Bialik have been named as the late Alex Trebek’s successors on Jeopardy!
