Artist Henbo Henning Announces Screen Printing Collab With Dave's New York
Spotlighting illustrations of NYC icons like the pigeon, rat and bagel.
Henbo Henning is the British tattoo artist based in New York who is best known for his humorous take on traditional Japanese tattooing. Drawing inspiration from Yokai — which is the Japanese belief of spirits in normal objects — Henning’s practice involves a slew of graphic and bold illustrations featuring humanoid creatures, fish with legs and wrestling frogs to name a few.
Henning recently took to Instagram to announce his collaboration with workwear mainstay, Dave’s New York. Taking over the company’s outpost on Sixth Avenue this July 17 from 11-5 p.m. ET, the artist will launch a screen printing activation which will allow customers to choose between different graphics to be printed on five different base color options for tees: orange, yellow, navy, white and green. The artist told HYPEBEAST in a statement that the collaboration came about because he wanted to support Dave’s after it had suffered during the pandemic just like many small businesses. He also wanted to create a special moment where fans of both his work and Dave’s can come together and celebrate.
“I want people to experience the welcoming atmosphere of Daves that makes you feel right at home something we all needed in such tough times,” said the artist. “So I wanted that to be represented In the design something classic and New York “New York Love’s Dave’s” was the theme I went with with incorporates my style and character design into classic nyc icons like a pigeon, rat and bagel and king kong all wearing something you can pick up from Daves because let’s face it there is only one store that has the gear to meet the requirements of all the characters of New York City if your working or just want something that lasts this is the place… ‘New York love’s Dave’s.’”
