Pixar Adds Familiar Characters to adidas Originals' NMD_R1
Who can you spot?
adidas Originals continues to liven up its sneakers with yet another collaboration with Disney Pixar, this time around reworking the NMD_R1 with a host of familiar characters.
The collaborative pair follows news of a Sean Wotherspoon x Disney x adidas Originals Superturf “Jiminy Cricket” tease as well as previous collaborations such as Toy Story x adidas that released back in 2019. For this NMD_R1, it’s all about celebrating some of the Pixar group’s favorite icons, as characters including Buzz Lightyear and Rex from Toy Story grace the shoe’s blacked-out forefoot midsole plug.
Elsewhere, we find contrasting colors hit up the tape that runs over the Primeknit on the vamp and rear-quarter appearing in different hues on each foot, while more colors have been added into the grooves of the rear heel midsole plug. Pixar and adidas Originals Trefoil dual branding graces the purple tongue labels, and at the rear, the webbing heel tabs that read off adidas Originals’ “Three Stripes” slogan in various languages is also decorated with colors such as red, green, blue, and yellow.
Rounding out the collaborative sneakers is its Pixar-covered insoles and a set of round black rope laces that weave through the NMD_R1’s signature eyestay placket.
