For the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, only one Apple Store in West Rio de Janeiro sold the commemorative Olympics-themed watch bands through the month of August, causing resale prices to soar to more than quadruple the retail price tag.
This year, Apple is releasing limited-edition country-themed watch bands once again for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Thankfully, the bands will receive a wider release this time featuring an international collection of 22 Sport Loops aimed to celebrate the competitive spirit of athletes and fans on the quest for Olympic gold. The bands come with an App Clip function to easily download the corresponding watch faces.
According to Apple, the lightweight and breathable Sports Loops are available representing the following countries: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, and the US.
The International Collection Apple Watch Sport Loop bands are now available in 40mm and 44mm sizes for $49 USD exclusively at Apple. The country-specific striped watch faces are available for download on Apple’s website.
